Counselling can help you get clarity on a situation and it can assist you in working through difficulties or even reaching a decision. Sometimes it takes just a few sessions and other times, especially if the issus are more longterm, it can take ongoing counselling lasting months and occassionally, even longer.
Whatever is troubling you, counselling can be helpful as a way of organising your thoughts and working through the sometimes painful and difficult feelings which arise from this.
It also has the added benefit of giving you longterm skills to help you manage any future challenges in a productive and healthy way.
Counselling can give you space and time to really think about your situation which is a very rare commodity in modern life. It is therefore, a big commitment and I believe it is a huge investment to make in yourself and one which will benefit you both in the short and long term.
Counselling is different to other forms of help as it largely depends on your willingness and motivation to change and therefore you can determine just how far you wish to go with it.
